Sometimes we see posters around the streets asking people to look out for lost pets, almost always a cat. I don’t know how many cats are actually recovered, but I suspect not too many. So, I feel quite sad seeing these notices.
A day after we had seen such a notice recently, the owner arrived at our doorstep. She was door-knocking to follow up. I thought she was quite a distance from her house in terms of how far a female cat might travel, but she seemed very determined and obviously very affected by the cat’s disappearance. Unfortunately, we were unable to assist her.
Perhaps one day the microchips fitted to most cats to enable them to be identified will also include a locator device?
