A generation or so ago, it was not uncommon to see older style houses being “renovated” by having the wooden windows replaced with aluminium ones. It was generally assumed that such “renovations” were carried out by certain “ethnic” nationalities!
I thought that the practice had ceased, due to period homes rising in value and a greater awareness of their significance. But apparently not. In a nearby street, a lot of work is being done to an Edwardian house – including replacing the previous wooden windows with metal ones! Lack of good taste lives on?
