Michaelmas is the feast day of Archangel Michael.  The Western churches observe Michaelmas (if at all!) on 29 September.  It’s also the name of one of the four English “legal terms“, although the legal year in Australia is arranged differently.

In the Serbian Church, the slava or “Saint’s Day” for Archangel Michael is 21 November, so all families that have Archangel Michael as their patron saint have their slava on this day.   This important tradition was upheld this year, and we had a good celebration at Sue’s brother’s place.
