We had a very pleasant Saturday lunch at The Stables. This cafe at Como House is, I understand, relatively new, but is clearly very popular indeed. It was very crowded when we arrived, and initially the service was, understandably, a little on the slow side. However, once things settled down, the service was satisfactory, and the quality of the meals made up for the slight delay. The atmosphere is pleasant, with both indoor and outdoor areas. Not the cheapest prices in town, but not too bad. The drinks list was, perhaps “barely adequate”, but in fact, we all found something on it that we enjoyed.
After lunch, it was possible to walk through the Como House gardens as well as the kitchens, but access to the house itself was only by tour and we didn’t have the time to devote to this.
