Nova’s production of Cats out at Whitehorse involved a very large (and certainly enthusiastic!) cast. There were lots of “cats” on stage, of all ages, sizes, colours, shapes, you name it! It’s been a few years since I first saw Cats, but Nova’s cast seemed larger than I recalled it as having been back then.
Without being familiar with all the songs, it’s a little hard to follow some of the nuances in the storyline (see synopsis on Wijkipedia), but the main themes shine through.
Perhaps what really matters is the way the cast gets into cat-like attitudes, which they definitely did, even prowling around the auditorium at interval.
There are shows that I prefer to Cats, but just the same it was all very enjoyable and a good night out.
